Three Alarm Fire is a collection of stories that's nothing less, and nothing more, than a microcosm of America. A window into the struggles, tensions, and violence we have to make our way through. Day in and day out.

The people we meet in this book defy the world, are tossed around by it, and sometimes they feel their way through with the kind of compassion that pales in comparison to love. But sometimes, too, the people we meet in this book don't make it without a face full of scars

​

We meet a woman who lost her fiancé to a police shooting, a tragedy she mourns by making love to the cell phone that recorded his final moment. We meet an immigrant kid detained by ICE who becomes a superhero and sets himself on a collision course with the people who killed his mother. And we meet, among so many others, a boy who likes a girl, and it's love, the soft love that comes with knowing someone completely before you even share a kiss, that shields them from everything else.

In Three Alarm Fire, we also meet book a style like no other, a writing that turns grieving into a maze and joy into a firework. Each passing short story raises the stakes in a world of people laying everything on the line to find hope and strength in loss. Each passing story an experience so much like ours, moving through us and with us and offering a mirror to the world we share.
